There is a great misunderstanding in the Church on the subject of God’s sovereignty. That misunderstanding has affected the way the Church prays, especially in the area of intercession. To be effective in prayer, we must first understand who controls this World System.
The Church must recognize that this World System is governed by spiritual forces opposing God’s plan. These demonic forces have a right to operate and influence people. Paul describes this demonic system in Eph. 6:10-23.
Paul, writing in 1 Timothy 2:1-8, instructs the Church to pray for ALL mankind. That means we are to pray for Christians and non-Christians. Paul instructs us that we are to direct our prayers specifically to those who are in positions of authority. Again, not just Christian leaders, but all leaders.
Scriptural prayer motivated and directed by the Holy Spirit allows God to influence those in natural leadership and authority positions. When God is able to influence those individuals, governing decisions that affect nations make it easier for the Gospel to be spread. As a result, cities and nations are impacted by the Gospel in a more significant way.
In this teaching, Rev. Gary Crowl helps us to understand how, and to walk in the authority we have been given through Christ to affect our cities and nations and to impact them with the Gospel.
