Connie and I had the opportunity to visit the Great Wall of China many, many times. Each time was a remarkable experience. It isn’t easy to describe the immensity and complexity of the different sections of the wall that were built over several hundred-year periods. The wall averages 23 feet tall and 16 feet wide and stretches over 5,000 miles over some of the most challenging terrains you can imagine. It was built to protect China from attacking nomadic tribes. Each time I stood on the Great Wall, I thought about the tremendous amount of human effort and resources used to build this structure, all in an attempt to keep outside influences from entering China.
Today, the Great Wall is useless in preventing the Gospel from penetrating China. With the creation of electronic media, we can bypass the Great Wall of China and the Great Firewall of China and make materials and resources available in every city and small village throughout the 31 provinces and municipalities. Our FLPChinese website is reaching into every part of China. Every day someone is accessing the videos and faith-building books we make available, free of charge.
