There is a very familiar statement that says, “If you want to go somewhere you have never been before, then you will have to do some things that you have never done before.”
What has God been speaking to you about? Are their areas in your life that God wants to expand and enlarge? All of us must determine in our hearts that this year will be different; this year is going to be a year that we possess everything God has for us. We must be willing to stretch our faith. We must be ready to get out of our comfort zone. We must be willing to act on those things that God is speaking to us to do.
Many times fear of the unknown or fear of failure keeps us from moving on what God is saying to us. One man said, “If you limit your choices to only what seems possible or reasonable, you will disconnect yourself from what you truly want, and all that is left is compromise.” Robert Fritz
If you want to have and experience what God has for you this year, you will have to focus on three things:
First, you must change your thinking. What you think about all the time will determine what you believe. What you believe will control what you do and speak. What you do and say will determine what you have and become in life.
Secondly, you must change what you have been saying. In Mark 11:23 –For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.
Notice, Jesus said you would have what you say. The biblical principle is this: you have to say it before you experience it.
Thirdly, you must change what you are doing. James 1:25 – But the one looking into the perfect Law of liberty, and continuing in it, this one not having become a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in his doing. (LIVT) The doer of God’s Word is blessed, not the hearer, not the complainer, not the conformer, the doer. You receive a blessing from God as you act on what God says to you. Doing or Acting is Faith. We must understand that there is usually an element of risk involved with faith. That is why very few people want to try something different.
Let’s not live another year of compromise. Let me challenge you to step out of your comfort zone. Move into unfamiliar territory. Stretch your faith to let God move in a new way in your life. Let us act on what God is saying to us. God’s Word will never let you down and never fail you.
