Overcoming Faith

In this two-part teaching on the subject of faith you will learn:

• How to use your faith in God and His Word to build a solid foundation that will withstand every challenge in life.

• How to use faith to resist every attack that comes from Satan.

The just shall live by faith.” The Christian life is a life of faith. Everything we have received from God, beginning with salvation and the baptism with the Holy Spirit is received by faith.

In the past, we have focused on using our faith to receive the spiritual and material blessings that have been made available to us through the redemptive work of Christ. However, faith is not only active in receiving from God, it is also active in helping us build a solid foundation to withstand the tests and trials of life.

In Luke chapter 22 and verse 32, Jesus talking to Peter said,  “But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren.” Notice what Jesus prayed in connection with Satan’s attack on the life of Peter. Jesus prayed only one thing. Jesus did not pray that Peter might have faith. Jesus prayed that Peter’s faith would fail not.

In the time we are living, it is critical that we develop a faith in God and His Word that will not fail. Fortunately, God has given to us a way to develop our faith and to strengthen our faith. Paul writing to the Christians in Rome, in Romans 4:21 said this about Abraham’s faith, “And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.”

This is the kind of faith that will withstand every challenge we face in life. The good news is, God has given every Christian a measure of His faith. The Word of God instructs us how we can develop the faith that we have received to the point that we can become and overcomer in this life. 1 John 5:4 says, “For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.”
